Wolfgang Jellinghaus was born in 1951 in Dortmund, Germany. His father was also a guitar maker, and he grew up with guitars at an early age. Wolfgang Jellinghaus has been living and working in China for several years now, where he builds handmade guitars of outstanding quality in small manufacturing.
 
The España 1A model is built in a classic Spanish style that was influenced by Pepe Romero's guitar constructions as well as the legendary guitars of Miguel Rodriguez, Santos Hernandez, and others. These guitars are incredibly powerful and clear with great sustain. They have typical five-fan bracing and can have tops made of either Western red cedar or premium German spruce. 
 
Wolfgang Jellinghaus España 1A Cedar model has a broad, clear tone, considerable power, and incredibly sensitive. The trebles react quickly, precisely, and with a variety of timbres. With lots of dynamics and a distinctively Spanish tone, the basses are also prominently featured.
