Named after the legendary “La Leona” guitar by Antonio de Torres, the Luthier Series Carbon Case is the result of nearly five years of intensive research and development. Innovative design tools, advanced materials, and a deep understanding of luthiers’ needs shaped a case that meets the highest professional standards.

The story behind the case begins with Qingchuan Li, the founder and producer of Leona Cases. The initial idea emerged when renowned luthier Gernot Wagner asked Qingchuan to create a custom guitar case that would offer a perfect fit and uncompromising protection for his instruments. During the first year, development focused primarily on optimizing the interior design, ensuring maximum stability, comfort, and safety for fine handmade guitars. Early versions used existing exterior molds, allowing Qingchuan to refine the core concept and gather the resources needed for a fully original design.

To bring this vision to life, Qingchuan later partnered with Janis Ober, a designer trained in Amsterdam and the son of Munich luthier Fritz Ober. Their collaborative design approach drew inspiration from Mercedes-Benz automotive design studios in Germany, which they visited during the development process. Like automotive designers, they relied on clay models, physical forms, 3D scanning, and advanced rendering techniques to shape a case that balances aesthetics, aerodynamics, and structural strength.

The result is a high-end carbon guitar case—and its matching padded cover—that reflects precision craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a deep respect for the world of fine luthiery.
